I want to have a picnic!
Let’s have a picnic. Pretty basket, blanket, and all. Perhaps at the local park. I want to picnic!
Modcloth’s Top Ten Summer Picnic Foods has some great ideas regarding los comestibles for picnics, including macaroni salad, carmelized onion tarts, watermelon (and really any summer fruit), and sandwiches (specifically finger sandwiches).
A quick search on Etsy brings up a ton of...

I am so behind!
I need to do so much stuff over the summer for school. For example, I need to read a bunch of books, write a 7 to 10 page psych paper, write an outline, and do a twelve page calculus packet. In addition I have to sew a bunch of bibs and write up my Gold Award project proposal. And June’s already over. The psych paper is due in the beginning of August. I guess I’ll get on that first.

I hope this isn't TMI but...Oh what the heck.
I ordered a Mooncup (for environmental and health reasons) and I suggest you do too if you’re not too repulsed. For some good reading check out here:
The Moon Cup - for all your “Feminine” product needs.
If that’s a little too far out for you, check out The TMI Post: Reusable Sustainable Femininity, about reusables.

Dress for Mom.
I’m going to be making a dress for my mom, because she never wears sundresses but she looks so adorbs in them! So I’m going to make the Coffee Date Dress without the ruffle and with cap sleeves. I’m making it in a gray fabric with little pink flowers.
In addition, I still need to do something with this fabric - it’s all pre washed and ready to go:
I certainly like the...

It's hot-hot-hot.
I wish I was at workcamp. Workcamp is amazing. It’s in two weeks. Yay!
I think I’m going to make my mom a dress. She should wear dresses more often in my opinion.
Sorry, I’m boring today. I did make a dress that I will be posting this week - it’s a blue spaghetti-strap dress with little pink flowers on it.

Seersucker Ahoy Dress
I finished this dress in one day because it was one of those See-And-Sew patterns. It’s a nice basic pattern that I feel like I can use often, and it was only $2.99 at JoAnn’s. I wore it to a local fair which was a fun time, and the seersucker was nice in the heat.

Berry Picking
Finally, some of the berries from the raspberry bushes at my house are ripe! Yum!
Look how many I picked!
Here’s my raspberry patch:
Speaking of berries, I found this awesome fruit patterned seersucker at JoAnn’s for 60% off! I am going to make a dress out of it. It came out darker in the photo than it really is, but just imagine it in brighter colors that POP!

1947 Repro Dress: FIN!
I finished it finally, and I love it! I especially am happy with the sleeves - they were a bit wonky so I decided to use bias tape to finish them and love the way it looks.
As modeled by my friend Brittany!

Dye job.
Spankadelic pink, my friends. Nah, more like a slightly pink tint.
The dye:
Manic Panic’s Hot Hot Pink. Supposedly it glows under UV but I haven’t tested that out yet, mainly due to the fact that I do not own a UV light.
Our setup involved a lot of newspaper and covering the chair with a big plastic bag.
Kasia’s gloved hands, covered in pink dye - by the way, many...

This lovely picture is of a genuine 1950s kitchen on display in the Poole Museum:
Also, you should follow this link to Behind the Curtain’s Vintage Style Series - particularly the one about vintage vanities.

Check out the bright colors! It’s somewhat Moulin Rouge inspired (which is a movie I have yet to see):

Green Makeup? Not really.
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this but you have the following three choices with makeup:
1. Don’t wear any.
2. Wear makeup with toxic ingredients.
3. Wear really, really, really expensive makeup.
Yes, it is sad to say that cheap, nontoxic makeup does not really exist.
First off, they all contain parabens, which are a type of preservative that should be avoided at all costs....

Fabrics and Seasons
Most people know that colors have seasons. They probably also know that fabrics have seasons as well. So what fabrics go with what seasons? Well, here are my opinions:
Spring and Summer
Seersucker - this is the classic summer fabric. In fact, Senate has an official seersucker day during the summer in which every senator sports a seersucker shirt. Seersucker usually comes in gingham and stripes...

Fifties Fashion Article
Hi you guys! I wrote a series of 3 articles for my fashion class final - one on fifties fashion, another on a dress recon, and the last a tutorial for a bag. I am not going to post them all at once - to avoid overload! - but here’s the first, on fifties fashion.

Shaving? Yes or no.
Personally I enjoy posessing hair free legs BUT I also think it is a personal decision. Of course it’s better for the environment not to, but I feel that I do a lot of green stuff that I can excuse my shaving habits.
Anyway, read this blog post by Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls. It’s interesting.

Awesome things about being an only child. →
I am an only child so I can identify. My favorite part is about the inability to share:
“Giving is different from sharing,” he says, shaking his head. “You can’t handle sharing.”
And it’s true. I’ll take you out for a nice dinner (my treat! have a third glass of wine!), but stab your hand with a fork if you try to sneak a taste of something on my...

Okay. Soon enough many sewing updates will be showing up on your computer screen. First off, I have made a cute and simple pair of baby pants which were bought by my mother to give to a friend who just had a baby boy.
Secondly, I have a relative ton of orders!
I am making another apron similar to my recent one:

Flip flops = DEATH
So I just read an article on flip flops and how dangerous they are…yes I have read a multitude of them before but this one particularly freaked me out. Fractured knees? Spine injuries? No thanks! So, I am on a quest for a cute pair of flip flops with ankle straps.
I found two at my perennial favorite, Modcloth:

and Infinity Sandal.

And secondly, I made a lilac purple dress for a party I’m going to. I made it because I have found that many of my...
