This is another inexpensively-made one - I got the fabric for free, the applique from a friend, and the zipper was $3. I’m very happy with the way it looks!

My lovely floormate Keith, who is in a photography club, was in need of some photos and I was in need of shots of some new clothes I’ve made - so of course we teamed up and got some photos going! I modeled the below dress, and my roommate Nicole modeled a skirt for me that will be posted this weekend.
This dress is awesome because it cost me about $5 to make - I bought the fabric at a tag sale for $2 and the zipper for $3. I used Colette Patterns’ “Parfait” pattern which is definitely one of my favorite patterns ever.
The fabric is a pastel plaid and has small raised Swiss dots all over it.

I watched the movie Hard Candy yesterday. I had been meaning to watch it for ages.

Spoiler: It was OK. It had an unusual enough plot to be memorable and pretty captivating.
Summarizing the plot, a 14 year old girl meets an older (30-40 something year old) man online and flirts with him. They agree to meet up for coffee, which is obviously creepy. However, the man seems shockingly normal. Slowly, the situation turns around and the 14 year old girl is psychologically torturing him as punishment for being “a pedophile”. Eventually, you end up feeling sympathy for the pedophile, and not the girl, which is kind of a strange role reversal.
The movie’s script was not spectacular or anything. Of course, I’m very partial to Ellen Page and this was one of her earlier films, and I thought she did alright. She’s better in her more recent films, where she is not playing a psychopathic middle schooler. But she was decent.
I also thought the film dragged out a bit much. It was certainly successful in being psychologically thrilling. I really wanted to know what was going to happen next. My boyfriend thought it was fairly predictable but I disagreed - I was shocked by some of the things that happened, even though I knew the ending before I even watched the movie.
