On the legalization of pot.
Personally, I believe that marijuana should be legalized. First and foremost, it must be legalized for medical purposes. For pain management, it is considerably less harmful than highly addictive substances like vicodin and morphine. Oftentimes, people using narcotic pain medications become dependent on them, and will either enter the downward spiral of addiction, or experience...

My Senior Project: Fieldwork
So, for my senior project (the thesis paper from which I published a few weeks - months? - ago) I had to do fifteen hours of fieldwork. I chose to make a dress from a vintage pattern using a treadle machine. I’ve decided that treadle machines are a huge pain and there’s a good reason no one uses them any more. However the dress came out very cute:

Digital Photo Edits: Concept Edits
So, I’m currently taking a digital photo class at my school and I thought I’d share some of my edits. Our first assignment was to get used to making photo adjustments for lighting on photoshop.
The second assignment we had, high-contrast portraits, I liked OK when we did black and white edits, but I wasn’t so excited about the color edits. They look overdone to me.

Bad Styling on Pattern Envelopes
Why do the big 4 pattern companies (i.e. Butterick, Vogue, McCall’s, and Simplicity) publish their pattern envelopes with such obviously horrible styling on the sample worn by the model? It’s so discouraging! Before I knew how to “read” technical drawings, all I had to base my pattern buying on was the photo on the front and they’re all awful! Now I know better but it...

Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday
I watched Roman Holiday yesterday night with my mom and it was very cute. Audrey Hepburn was as charming as ever and this is probably one of my favorites so far that I’ve seen her in.
However, my favorite thing was the way she cut her hair in the movie. “All off,” she told the barber.
It’s just so cute I can’t stand it, and I’m toying with the idea of...

Burlesque sketches :-)
I have been planning out costumes for the upcoming burlesque show, and here are three of my sketches out of my notebook! The first one is for a drag act, set to Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend, with a boy dressed as Marilyn Monroe and the girls all dressed as “sexy Kennedys”:

The First Sundress of 2011
Well, I made it to March 1st without jumping the gun on making sundresses. I set the March 1st date for myself because making sundresses in February just seems a bit…excessively early.
The first one, after the jump, is made of a fabulous black and white gingham seersucker.
I finally used the lace I bought at Mood in New York City on this dress. It was the perfect lace - a thicker,...
