What I Wore: Memorial Day 2011
I made a dress from Colette’s Rooibos pattern which I wore for a family picnic on Memorial Day. It’s made from a Hawaii postcard printed cotton, and has red trim.

Prom 2011
So, I had prom yesterday night! Here’s the finished result of the dress….I was very happy with it! Although it was a bit tight so I had some trouble breathing…
Dan wore a matching vest:
Here’s the two of us together.
More photos after the jump….

Prom: Part I
So, I am going to my boyfriend’s prom this weekend. This year’s dress, of course, will not be revealed until Saturday or Sunday (depending on when I get around to uploading). But I sure want to do a pre-prom post.
Prom is awesome for me for several reasons. First off, it means I make a ton of money from dress alterations. Second, I get to wear a foofy, outrageous dress and I love it!...

Teacup Decor
In keeping with my recent post about the teacup lamp and teacup clock, here are some more tea-themed decor ideas! I do love me a good teacup or two.
This stacked floor lamp is like a giant version of the awesome Anthropologie lamp. Its corresponding blog post, with many inspiring and eclectic decor pictures, can be found here. I particularly like the flowery pots and pans. Anyway, lamp photo:

I think the retail is somewhere around $200. However, I then discovered a tutorial to make this lamp:
And so, you too can make your very own wonderful teapot lamp for a fraction of the price. I already have an awesome lamp for...

My pink dress with applique cutouts!
I love this dress! It fits perfectly and it has little side cutouts behind the flower appliques on the sides. I got the appliques (and a TON of others) from this lady I met at a craft fair. She was like, “I have a ton of awesome lace and appliques that I want to give you because I’ll never use them for anything! Write your number down so I can call you.” So I did and now I have...

Mini Tutorial: Tchotchke lamp
The other day I was browsing my feed on Tumblr and this wonderful picture of wonderfulness:
So I decided I needed something similar - so I made one! It was pretty easy so I would like to share with everyone how I did it. To begin, I looked through my attic and found a lamp, collected every bead, charm, and tiny tchotchke I’ve ever owned, along with some lace and various glues. Then I...

Indian/Middle Eastern food
So, I have to say, I am a sucker for Middle Eastern/Indian cuisine. It’s so delicious. I like to go to two restaurants in particular, one is all Middle Eastern and makes fantastic falafel - the other is an Indian food restaurant and has a great brunch buffet on Sundays.
So I was actually researching how to make the foods I like to order. I found a few goods ones.
First off, tabbouleh....
