Preview of my mom’s dress!

Soooooo here is a sneak peek of the dress I am making for my mom. I LOVE the fabric she selected, the flowers are so cute and cheery!

I just need to install a back zipper and hem it! Hooray!

By the way, it’s based on the Selfish Seamstress’s Coffee Date Dress pattern. I just love the way the skirt hangs on it! I used the same pattern to base my sailor dress on.

I want to have a picnic!

Let’s have a picnic. Pretty basket, blanket, and all. Perhaps at the local park. I want to picnic!

Modcloth’s Top Ten Summer Picnic Foods has some great ideas regarding los comestibles for picnics, including macaroni salad, carmelized onion tarts, watermelon (and really any summer fruit), and sandwiches (specifically finger sandwiches).

A quick search on Etsy brings up a ton of gorgeous handmade and vintage picnic baskets.

Whenever I think of picnics I think of gingham - I guess because that’s what kind of tablecloth is used in picnics in movies. But I’d wear a gingham dress, like this one!

I am so behind!

I need to do so much stuff over the summer for school. For example, I need to read a bunch of books, write a 7 to 10 page psych paper, write an outline, and do a twelve page calculus packet. In addition I have to sew a bunch of bibs and write up my Gold Award project proposal. And June’s already over. The psych paper is due in the beginning of August. I guess I’ll get on that first.

I hope this isn’t TMI but…Oh what the heck.

I ordered a Mooncup (for environmental and health reasons) and I suggest you do too if you’re not too repulsed. For some good reading check out here:

If that’s a little too far out for you, check out The TMI Post: Reusable Sustainable Femininity, about reusables.

Green goal: one step closer!

Rose Trellis Dress

Finished another very simple babydoll sundress and lovin’ it!

Dress for Mom.

I’m going to be making a dress for my mom, because she never wears sundresses but she looks so adorbs in them! So I’m going to make the Coffee Date Dress without the ruffle and with cap sleeves. I’m making it in a gray fabric with little pink flowers.

In addition, I still need to do something with this fabric - it’s all pre washed and ready to go:

I certainly like the idea of a coffee date dress with cap sleeves - but since it’s summer I feel as though this dress should be strappier.
